Rick “Poppa Dawg” Halisheff is known for his rootsy blend of blues, folk, and classic rock influences. Based in British Columbia’s Okanagan region, he built his reputation the old-fashioned way—playing live, connecting with audiences, and honing a distinctive voice both on the guitar and behind the mic.

Starting out as a young musician drawn to the storytelling traditions of folk and the grit of blues, Halisheff spent years developing his craft in small venues, festivals, and local circuits. Over time, his performances earned a loyal following, thanks to a mix of heartfelt originals and well-chosen covers that showcase his versatility. His nickname “Poppa Dawg” reflects both his stage persona—warm, engaging, and a little rough around the edges—and his deep connection to blues culture.
