FAQs
Do you offer tastings?
We offer cider flights rather than traditional wine tastings. Each flight includes 4 ciders (100 mL each), allowing you to sample a variety of flavours. A full flight is roughly equivalent to 1½ glasses of cider for $13.50 +tax.
Do you have table service?
We operate on counter service, similar to a café. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar. Spring & Summer: We use a buzzer system, and you'll pick up your food from Lil' Reds when it's ready. Fall & Winter: We'll bring your food to your table inside, so you don't have to head back out into the cold.
Are you family friendly? Dog friendly?
Absolutely! We're super-duper family friendly. Be sure to check out our Kids page to see all the activities available. Friendly, on-leash dogs are welcome in our picnic area.
Why are no adults allowed on the Jumper?
Our Jumbo Jumper is a kids-only zone. 😊 It has manufacturer weight limits, so if we allowed adults, not very many children would be allowed to play, and it wouldn’t be as safe for all of the younger kids at risk of getting double-bounced. We know it's not always the most popular rule, but it's there to keep everyone safe and to help keep the equipment in great condition for all the kids who come to play.
Why do you not offer growler fills?
As a small-batch cidery, we aren't able to keep up with the volume that regular growler fills require from our draft system. However, we do offer growler fills exclusively to members of our Cider Club, allowing us to accommodate the people who support us year-round.
Is there on-site parking available?
Yes! We have angle parking directly in front of the cidery, as well as a large overflow lot in the orchard. If both lots are full or you are visiting with an RV or trailer we recommend parking along Pelmewash Parkway, where there is plenty of parking. From there, it's just a 3-minute walk to the cidery.
Do you host private events?
Yes, but only from November to March in our off-season on select days of the week. Please reach out to hello@folktalecider.com for event rental details including available dates, venue fee, and catering.
What is Lil’ Reds Cafe?
Lil' Reds is our in-house food service brand at Folktale Cidery, located in the original fruit stand on our property. Our kitchen is run by talented chef duo John and Natania Swart, serving delicious food made to pair with our ciders. At the front of Lil' Reds where you pick up your food, you'll also find a curated selection of retail items from small, women-owned businesses in the Okanagan.
Do I need a reservation?
It depends on the season! Fall & Winter: Reservations are highly recommended due to our limited indoor seating. Spring & Summer: We don't accept reservations. With all of our outdoor seating available, we're able to accommodate a much higher volume of guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
Is there a fee to use the kids activities?
Yes. We charge $5 per child or $10 per family for families with multiple children. This small fee helps cover the costs of insurance, maintenance, and upkeep so we can continue offering fun, family-friendly activities.
Is your cider gluten-free?
Yes! All of our cider is gluten-free. About half of the items on our food menu are gluten-free as well, so there are plenty of options to enjoy alongside your cider.
What liquor stores can I find your cider in?
At this time, our ciders are only available on-site. As a small agricultural cidery producing limited batches, our focus is on supplying our busy year-round tasting lounge. While we may expand distribution in the future, for now you're welcome to visit us to purchase cider to take home.
Are you open year-round?
Almost! We're open throughout most of the year, with a short one-month seasonal closure after Christmas. Be sure to check our current hours before planning your visit.
